WHAT IS THE
It is an opportunity to experience who I am again
by discovering and unveiling my true self.
The Mamos of Mamorwa teach us, through their ancestral wisdom, what we really are and how this is covered up by the wounds and suffering inherited from our ancestors. They explain that we experience the same scars ourselves because we do not know how to break with this legacy. The idea is to leave behind, at the sacred site of Mamorwa, all these sufferings, fears, anger, anxiety, sadness, doubts, ego, and all the stress and uneasiness that obscure our simple nature which remains intact despite it all, like a seed waiting to germinate, to awaken to the world and to offer its ripest fruits.
You are this seed, and this is what you are called to awaken to during this 12-day retreat. Alongside the Mamos, men of wisdom of the Arhuaco people and guardians of the very ancient knowledge of the pagamento ¹ ritual. You will participate in this offering to Mother Nature, made up of all the burdens of suffering that make the path of each life difficult.
The ancestral wisdom of the four nations of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Arhuacos, Kogis, Wiwas and Kankuamos remind us that we are the children of Mother Nature.
By relieving ourselves from the weight that darkens our reality, we nourish the earth, and complete the cycle that allows Her to feed us in return.
Humans heal when they find again their right place in the world, in harmony with Nature and the laws of life.
During the Mamorwa retreat you will be supported by the Mamos to revisit your life, your past and your lineage, in order to find and release the roots that are at the origin of your sufferings. As a result, you will take the healing path for your body, mind, emotions and spirit, while finding at the same time a new meaning to your life.
It is a committing process, reminding us of our responsibility to live a life that makes us happy, without searching elsewhere for that happiness but rather looking into ourselves.
We, therefore, have the power and ability to let go of what harms us, so that a life made of peace, happiness and tranquility can emerge once again.
¹ Directly translates to « payment », in the sense of paying the accumulated debt to Mother Nature.
HOW DOES
THE MAMORWA RETREAT WORK ?
The first day begins with the pagamento ritual process or offering to Mother Nature. No food is eaten before, but a hot beverage is provided. Each day, and according to their consultation, the Mamos will offer you a personalised work based on the physical experience of our body’s contact with a living element of nature. This process will occur on precisely chosen sacred sites, to intentional healing directed towards certain parts of your being.
As Mamo Jacinto Brua reminds us, the earth we walk on is our body :
‘‘ The mountain gives us the hand, the thunder the word, the clouds are the feelings, the heart is the sun. The star is the serene joy.
In the air the thoughts, in the hills the bones, in the water the blood, in the brain the heavens, the firmament. The cave is the hearing, the lagoon is the mouth.
The sea is the movement of the stomach. The stone, the skull.
Within oneself, the Earth, the sacred site.
This movement of energy, which goes back and forth.
Are fourteen points united, the reason to heal the Mother.
Us Ikas ²
And the other tribes of the Sierra. ’’
² In the Arhuaco language, «ika» is the term for an individual of the Arhuaca ethnic group
Then, comes the time for the first meal of the day consisting entirely of natural food, that supports the internal work in progress. A time of physical relaxation is provided after the meal with a reflective exercise on the morning’s experience.
At dawn, and after dinner, we participate in the circle of fire. The conversation with the spirit of the fire is an integral part of the pagamento. Each participant amplifies his or her personal understanding by listening to the others and to the Mamos’ words of wisdom.
Every evening, gazing at the fire, each participant will dig deeper into themself to look for the awakening answers that emerged during the work of the day. It is a moment of healing through words to open up, relieve and express oneself to what is no longer useful in our lives, and to bring a new awareness ripe for deep transformations.
The strength of Mamo’s spiritual medicine lies in the use of living materials such as cotton, corn leaf, shells etc. At each stage of the retreat, the Mamo uses these materials in accordance with his knowledge so that each retreat is accompanied by unique materials, adapted to the group and the people present.
The Mamorwa retreat is an invitation to come feel and experience, in order to not forget. To not forget anymore that we are part of the universe, of nature and of the earth. To not forget anymore that it is this living relationship that nourishes the human being. By being in contact with this type of food, one naturally finds happiness, tranquility, self-confidence and returns to a passionate life.
A 11 DAY cycle, dedicated to the liberation from our sufferings.
Followed by ONE DAY of inner projection of our deep nature that emerges again as our lived reality.
You are therefore invited to come and go back to being more humble than all things like water, but also become as solid as a rock, as free as air, or as gentle as earth, invested with the loving passion of fire and the wisdom of mountains !
